About HakiYetu Governance Tracker

1. Background & Rationale

HakiYetu (meaning 'Our Rights') is a citizen-led governance accountability platform initiated by Journey for Hope (JFH) in Isiolo County. It promotes transparency, public participation, and accountability in county governance.

Isiolo County has experienced major infrastructure and development projects. Despite these investments, citizens often face limited access to budget information, weak public participation mechanisms, delays in project implementation, and poor feedback channels between citizens and leaders. HakiYetu was created to bridge this gap.

2. Vision

To build an informed and empowered citizenry that actively participates in governance and demands accountability.

3. Mission

To provide a digital and community-based governance tracker that monitors county budgets, development projects, public participation forums, and service delivery standards.

4. Core Objectives

Track county budget allocations versus actual implementation.
Monitor ongoing development projects.
Provide a citizen reporting mechanism.
Publish simplified civic education materials.
Promote youth-led governance dialogue.
